Canine Good Citizen

American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen is a general-purpose measure of dogs' confidence and good manners outside the home. Therapy dog organizations may require the CGC test as an entry requirement.

CGC Evaluators test for AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen,

AKC Community Canine, Urban CGC, and AKC Trick Dog.

Dogs up to one year old are eligible for S.T.A.R. Puppy. Dogs of any breed and age are eligible for the Canine Good Citizen test, although dogs must be registered with AKC to receive titles.

All levels of CGC tests $20.

Tricks tests $5.

After successful tests, owners send test forms to AKC to apply for certificates (S.T.A.R. Puppy) or titles directly from AKC.
